RLDP said A good, basic study in mindfulness. No tricks, no gimmicks, just basic mindfulness that you can carry with you wherever you go, because of the focus on mindful breathing. I quite liked the rhythm of the book - the repetition in the writing made the reading feel like a meditative experience. The main part of the book was a helpful exploration of what mindful awareness is in everyday life. The mindfulness exercises provided more specific applications. The final section of Buddhist Sutras was beyond my current understanding, but I will re-read them as part of future meditations. I plan to keep this book on my phone's kindle app so I can remind myself to practice basic breathin. Arlene S. said very informative and inspiring. As a relative beginner in meditative practice, and the teachings of Buddhism, I found this first book I've read by Thich Nhat Hanh, to be very useful. I learned a lot and will read more books by him. There were a number of insights I gained which I am trying to put into practice.
