DESCRIPTION:
Leon is charged with the murder of Tower Grayson, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist found stabbed to death in a Dumpster behind a liquor store. It's a tough case as both the cops and the prosecutors are doing everything in their power, including intimidating witnesses and threatening Michael, to take the accused man down. Michael, Rosie, daughter Grace and friends are characters worth rooting for. Leon, who lives in a flophouse and is dying of liver disease, is equally determined to go to his grave an innocent man. As with the others in the series (Special Circumstances; Incriminating Evidence; Criminal Intent), it's a low-key but pleasantly compelling read. The lengthy, detailed courtroom scenes are instructive and authentic, the resolution fair, dramatic and satisfying. The firm has several good reasons to turn Walker down. This is not good news-because Walker was the one who ruined their marriage. Dogged investigation, courtroom nimbleness, and a healthy dose of luck usually have helped Mike before, but it looks like it'll take more than that to prevail this time, and his time is running out-both on his client and, just maybe, on his partnership.. The new murder has been pinned on Walker, but he not only tells Mike he is innocent, he says he is a dying man and doesn't want to go to his grave proclaimed a murderer. Fate throws a curveball at the San Francisco ex-husband-and-wife legal team of Mike Daley and Rosie Fernandez, when Mike picks up the phone and hears the voice of Leon Walker. Through a series of (some said) questionable maneuvers, Mike got the charges dropped, but he and Rosie fought about it all the time and it finally drove a wedge between them. Years ago, he and his brother participated in a stickup that left a man dead. Now, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist has been found dead in a dumpster on San Francisco's skid row
"Cassock to Courtroom; Improbable Journey" according to Grouch. This is the only book in this series that I have read. I thought that Mike’s past might be too fabricated maybe even a improbability; lawyer to PI would have been adequate,I did find some interesting characters and my favorite was Nick “the Dick” Hanson. Mainly because I found this type of chara. "win or lose, I will always do my best.” Gabi Rosetti Leon Walker is the last person Mike expected to hear fromTen years ago, Mike and Rosie had represented Walker when they were Public Defenders. Walker and his brother had been in a robbery that left a convenience store clerk dead. Through a series of "questionable" manoeuvres, Mike had gotten the charges dropped, . "Been a While Since I Read a Good Legal Thriller. This One Definitely Fit the Bill!" according to Don Kidwell. Initially hesitant given the noted quality issues reported, but other than a few misspelled words that didn't otherwise interrupt the flow can't say I hardly noticed and did really enjoy the book! Characters were well-drawn and highly relatable, fine plot, and dialogue was both realistic and humorous including pa
