While locomotives dominate the presentation, consists (cars making up the trains) and geographic settings are also treated in Tillotson's pictures and text. My positive evaluation also extends to a companion book by Tillotson on diesel locomotives (Volume One: 1950-1982, but, really covering road . . My positive evaluation also extends to a companion book by Tillotson on diesel locomotives (Volume One: 1950-1982, but, really covering road . great pictures and plenty of them Anthony Carmignani great pictures and plenty of them,i buy railroad books for their picture content so I can't critique the writing content but if you like train pictures all of TLC publishing books are for you!. a good pictorial history of southern railroad passenger steam John Olin super pictures and a painless way to learn more about one aspect of southern railroad operations during the steam era. i liked this book because it had some really great pictures of southern railroad streamlined pacific #1380, the queen, the most beautiful locomotive ever built and my personal favorite.
