DESCRIPTION:
As the original bassist for the seminal death metal band Cannibal Corpse, author Alex Webster offers invaluable insight into the realm of metal bass guitar. Extreme Metal Bass also includes an enhanced audio CD with demonstration and play-along tracks of all the examples in the book, plus play-along MIDI drum files for optimum practicing. This exclusive book/CD pack provides detailed, hands-on training, featuring vital bass guitar techniques and concepts. This book is designed for players who use a standard-tuned five-string bass (low to high: B-E-A-D-G). (Bass Instruction). If you do not have a five-string bass, a four string (tuned B-E-A-D) will work for much of the material presented.. Extreme Metal Bass further demonstrates how these techniques can be applied in real-life situations within the context of a song. No matter what brand of metal you subscribe to from classic metal to modern metal and beyond Extreme Metal Bass will supply the bass skills you crave
great book, highly recommend Hector Borrell As an intermediate bass player, I wanted to further improve my skills and improve in techniques that are derivative to the style I play which is of course metal. So many other books give you the runaround and don't give you the material that you really need. In this book, Alex Webster covers not only the basics but everything you need to play any style of metal. After mastering this book, you will be proficient enough to play metal bass, great book, highly recommend.. "Good information. I kind of wish there were some" according to Mike. Good information. I kind of wish there were some videos to go along with it as unless you have been playing for awhile you might be confused about some of the tapping instructions.. Just good stuff Brent Shaughnessy Good instruction from a great player. Not for beginners, but neither is it required that you be a music major (there is a decent amount on music theory early on in the book, but don't let that intimidate you). Please note that you can absolutely use this book if you only own a four string bass. 5 string may be ideal, but there is no serious detriment to using your four stringer with this book. Alex, in fact, explains this in an early chapter.
