I've read quite a few books on Metallica over the years and found this to be the most lacking; especially with it being positioned as a biography of James Hetfield. Much of the information presented has been told in much more informative and detailed explanations by Joel McIver and Mick Wall. This volume should almost be considered the "starter" book for newer fans of Metallica or a good introductory for those that haven't read. A gift well given Schnerphel I got this book as a gift for my hubby, who is a huge Metallica fan. He thoroughly enjoyed it; said it was well-written and had lots of info.
