DESCRIPTION:

For unaccompanied cello.. (String Solo)

Good, but one big error Amy P. Easy to read, and overall great edition. HOWEVER, there is an error in the gigue movement of the first suite, with some ties that shouldn't be there. I was playing it for a college audition and one of the professors asked to see my copy, and said "yeah, that's just not correct." I would recommend listening to a recording and playing what you hear, at least for that movement.. Top of the repetoire These solo suites so dominate the cello literature that I think many don't realize that there are other suites and sonatas for unaccompanied cello. They are awesome works, with subtleties which will tax the greatest virtuosi, yet they can be played for fun by students. This 1939 edition has some bowing and fingering directions, but no narrative about what the music means. The typography is clear, which is not easy in such complex music, but there are a couple of nasty inkblots.. AmazonCustomer9Best edition - imo This is my favorite edition of the Bach suites. The notation is clear and not too crowded (allowing enough space for your own pencil markings, bowings, fingerings etc). I also like the Schirmer yellow on the jacket. It's easy to pick out in a pile of music.. 570"Best edition - imo" according to AmazonCustomer9Best edition - imo This is my favorite edition of the Bach suites.
