Vicky Adin said It's the little things that count. I am not usually a reader of horror novels. I came to know McKenzie's writing through her historical fiction novels which display her love and knowledge of antiques. Painted continues her love of antiques with descriptions of the amazing rooms in this novel. Room by room, character by character and painting by painting the author delivers a page turning, gripping novel of a house that is haunted - if only they had listened to the owner who left specific instructions in his will.. Chilling thriller. I am not a big reader, only 12 books a year and mainly business books - I had a friend go on and on about this book. My perception was it was not my cup of tea, but I do enjoy good thrillers if I can't find it as a movie. Wow, what a book, once I started I could not put it down, I needed to find out what was going to happen next. I loved the setting and the chilling moments had me thinking that this would make a great movie. Will have to read another one soon.. Couldn't put it down! Michelle B I really enjoyed Kirsten's first two novels and I was super excited when the third was released. This book is a real page turner and it was so detailed in it's descriptions I could see this place in my mind even visualize the characters. This author really has a way of drawing the reader in.Can't wait for the next book!

For many years Kirsten McKenzie worked in her family's antique store, where she went from being allowed to sell the 50c postcards in the corner of Antique Alley as a child, to selling $5,000 Worcester vases and seventeenth century silverware, providing a unique insight into the world of antiques which touches every aspect of her writing. Her time slip novels have been called Antiques Roadshow gone viral, and The Time Travellers Wife meets The Far Pavilions.

If art can capture a soul, what happens when one of those souls escapes? When art appraiser Anita Cassatt is sent to catalogue the extensive collection of reclusive artist Leo Kubin, it isn’t only the chilly atmosphere of the secluded house making her shiver.Upon entering the house, Anita stands before a silent audience of portraits clustered on every wall. Free at last from the confines of his canvas, he has no intention of ever returning. Every painted eye is watching her, including those of the unfinished portrait on the artist’s easel. A portrait with an eerie familiarity.Kubin’s lawyer didn’t share the detailed instructions regarding the handling of the art, and Anita and her team start work in ignorance of the very instructions designed to keep them safe.Disturbed, a man eases himself out of his

“Caravaggio meets Poltergeist.” “The chapters where she is alone in the house are so unbelievably spooky.” “I've finished! OMG it got so tense towards the end.”
