Solid Instructions - Highly Recommended What I really like about Wendy's book is how tight and focused she is concerning the materials needed to accomplish the different drawing exercises in her book: just the 20 color pencils from the Faber-Castell Polychromos line, plus a couple of graphite pencils. This simple and lean approach to materials, I think, is far more useful in terms of laying a solid foundation for the beginner (especially on color theory) -- as opposed to Ann Swan's approach (Botanical Portraits with Colored Pencils) where you'll need an extravagant numb.
