Far from being a captive to her disabilities, she lived a full and vibrant life. This was written during her college days. A very interesting read!. A real eye-opener (for us, if not for Helen herself). Helen wrote this as a young girl, so it only covers her youthful struggles, and not the things she faced as an adult--but those were the most formative years anyway. It is amazing to see how quickly she blossomed, but she was brilliant anyway. We often think of her as just an ignorant little blind and deaf girl until Ann Sullivan took her in hand, and she was most certainly spoiled and stubborn--but not stupid!
