"Very Good Arrangements" according to Tom in Sierra Madre. Popular Performers Gershwin is an excellent book in the Popular Performers Series. These arrangements were written by Melody Bober at an Early Advanced skill level. Melody Bober has written rich, sophisticated arrangements that are still very playable. The Early Advanced skill level is important because these arrangements can be played by a good sight reader without necessarily having to be spot-on in technique or timing (although it helps).I appreciate the interesting arrangements of "Embraceable You", "Love Is Here To Stay" and especially "Summertime". Now I specifically look for books with. a little too easy but OK for learning the songs Not very sophisticated or original versions, though most of them have a more elaborate arrangement to give you some interest. Limited usefulness for performers but very good to let students get exposed to the good stuff.
