DESCRIPTION:
When asked by a lender to appraise a house for twice its value, he called the FBI and set in motion a chain of events that both brought down a fraud ring, and led to a role in crafting regulations that help protect the industry today. In the midst of this mayhem, a Kansas City real estate appraiser said enough was enough. His engaging and inspiring story has been described as “The Big Short from the bottom up.”. In 2006 the American and world economies teetered on the edge of collapse as investors traded near-worthless mortgage securities created by fraudulent lending practices

This book reads very well offering a good true story along with some insight on the not-so-distant Mitzi Swaffar A page turner for sure! This book reads very well offering a good true story along with some insight on the not-so-distant mortgage crisis. If you liked "The Big Short" or other works such as "Sea Biscuit" and "Unbroken" weaving together history and a story about an (extra)ordinary person of that time period, then you'll love this book. Best of all, it's based on an event we all remember well - mortgage crisis of 10 years ago. Good character development - you'll love th. "A Must Read" according to Brenda Strauss. A must read for everyone as a reminder of why honesty and integrity are essential in business today. I applaud the author's willingness to share not only his part in bringing this fraudulent activity to light, but showing us the risk he took in doing so. I'm certain that there are few that would have juggled a battle with cancer, incurred a loss of business clients and still had the guts to blow the whistle. Looking for a easy to understand book on the "Mortgage Crisis". Great read! Amazon Customer I found the book to be extremely interesting. It's so good to read a story from the viewpoint of the bottom end of the mortgage spectrum. It's also an eerie foreshadowing for what we can expect when they repeal Dodd Frank and throw us back into another housing crisis.
