DESCRIPTION:
Her last work of fiction, a play published in 1994, is still being performed at several colleges and universities. November Ellison holds an undergraduate degree in French and a graduate degree in sociology. She has a successful career in digital marketing and analytics, two teenage children, and five cats. As Jo struggles with the ethical dilemma of how to respond to this murderer, Cain slowly dismantles her carefully constructed isolation. She learns she’s a “beacon,” a genetically marked vessel for the magnetic power that enables vampires to feed off of humans. But inside, she is lonely and unfulfilled, keeping everyone at arm’s length to hide the shameful secrets of her past. Pastor Joanna Benally leads a double life. He’s taken it upon himself to butcher sinners, sadistically using his telepathic abilities to enjoy his victims’ terror and pain. Then, when Jo kills two men in self-defense, an unexpected chain of events ushers her into a reality she never imagined possible. As danger and betrayal emerge in unexpected places and the line between good and evil blurs, Jo must choose between the truth of radical love and the safety of false appearances.Action-packed, romantic, and thought provoking, Beacon explores the possibility that vampirism is both scientifically possible and part of God’s plan.WINNER 2017 Reader Views Reviewer’s Choice AwardFINALIST 2017 National Indie Excellence Awards. When Jo is sent to Newark, Ohio, on church business, she is knocked off her feet by a handsome redheaded young man
Not a fairy dust vampire romance but do not rush past this tale Another unusual view of vampires and quite interesting. Jo Bennally is a pastor come to help a congregation/church that looks as though it might have to close its doors. Full of enthusiasm and the fire of God, many are pleased and some are not. Meanwhile Jo meets Cain, a vampire. And so the story goes. Interwoven with science . Good start. Then it went downhill. I was hooked on the beginning by the fierceness of the characters and plot, then the book toalttly changes into the this strange romance that just didn't work for me and the main character does a complete 180. I kept waiting for some reason to be revealeded about her decline in character and gave up at 6. Engaging tale and an interesting mix of genres mandie pandie Engaging tale and an interesting mix of genres. There is quite a bit of religion/spirituality, mixed with large doses of vampires, with romance and a sprinkling of conspiracy theories and science/physics thrown in for good measure. The characters (esp the main character) are multi-dimensional and will remind you of people you
I highly recommend Beacon to any reader looking for agreat new series, and I sincerely hope that the very talented new author, November Ellison, is already hard at work on the second installment. If that isn't a hallmark of an excellent author, I'm not sure what is. Jo's life will never be the same, and the choices she makes now will affect both her and possibly all of humankind. This story line was quite unique, and was able to mix elements of fantasy, realism and religious thought together quite successfully. Her scene setting ability is simply second to none, and her ability to create fantastic scenarios in realistic settings is excellent. What will she do? You'll need to read the book to find out.I loved Beacon. Cain i
