Highly recommended. They close with a discussion of where physics ends and philosophy begins, "Why does the universe exist at all?" They cannot provide the answer, but they do provide an immense amount of food for thought. Throughout these discussions, the authors maintain the same wry, lively tone that made the original Brief History such a delight. Recognizing that much of their audience will also be science fiction buffs, they include a chapter on the possibility of time travel. . All rights reserved. "The right book at the right time" according to Jim Wendling. My first venture into cosmology and physics. After seeing the movie "The Theory of Everything" I was compelled to explore Hawking's work. I was able to read the written words and get a sense of Hawking's points but I can't say I truly understand. I am pleased to have a better knowledge of this phenomenal quest mankind has pursued to un. Great for kids as well as adults. A curious sixth grader, interested in science, loved this. I got it for him because I thought it gave a fantastic treatment of astronomy and physics relating to space and time, at a general reading level, while the school curriculum's treatment of space was pretty shallow and repetitive. This eleven year old feels he has learned tons, . Alex Ferrugia said Great summary of an original classic. This book does a nice job of taking some sophisticated theoretical concepts and distilling them down into easy to chew pieces. This was a pleasant read for a few hours on my flight back from Europe. Easy to read physics in layman's terms. The book seems to progress into more theoretical depth as you get closer to the end (sections on E
